The early years of Brian's career saw
him spending a short time as a trainee laboratory technician. After
this, Brian enlisted in the Metropolitan Police Force and found
that two years in uniform and six years as a Detective Constable
formed the perfect early introduction to people, and behavioural
management.
In the early 1970's Brian joined WR Grace
Industrial Chemicals - the start of 14 years of valuable experience
in front-line selling and, later, in managing those who sold chemicals,
plastics and consumer durables and services.
With this solid grounding in business-to-business
sales and sales management, in 1984 Brian joined Mercuri International,
one of the world's leading sales & sales management training organisations.
Consultant, Group Leader, Regional Director and Joint Managing Director
was his career pathway for the next 15 years.
In 1999, Brian was invited to relocate
with Mercuri to Montreal, Canada. As Business Development Director,
his role was to grow both revenues and consultant headcount for
the North American market. Both proved successful. Based initially
in Quebec and later in Florida, Brian was also Mercuri's Global
Account Manager for a world-leading client in the logistics sector
which grew into a $10M account and, in itself, was a major contributor
to North American growth over 5 year period.
In mid 2004, at the end of this contract,
Brian relocated back to the UK and today enjoys working with a variety
of business-to-business organisations in markets as diverse as:
Logistics, Technology, Travel, Packaging, Market Research, Security,
Finance and Publishing.
