Colin's career began in 1970 as a trainee
manager with W H Smith in Cambridge and quickly progressed to book
buyer before Colin was approached by Granada Publishing and recruited
as a trainee sales representative in the West Country. Within 2
years Colin had been promoted and made responsible for his own territory
in East Anglia.
Once again headhunted
via his personal network, Colin then joined Photo Precision, the
UK's largest manufacturer of coloured Postcards, Guidebooks and
associated Tourist related products. Colin's experience with Photo
Precision embraced roles from Sales Office Manager to National Sales
Manager. As both Area Sales Manager and Regional Sales Manager,
Colin's teams won the Chairman's trophy as the top sales teams in
the UK.
In 1983, Colin's former
boss approached him to join one of the world's leading sales and
sales management training organisations as a Sales Management Consultant.
During the next 4 years Colin built and developed a substantial
client base yielding a six-figure turnover on an annual basis, selling
and delivering a range of 'off the shelf' and bespoke Sales and
Sales Management programmes. Clients spanned a plethora of industries
including: Catering, Information
Technology, Telecommunications,
Commercial banking, Recruitment,
Transport & Logistics, Manufacturing,
Selling to Retail, Leisure Industries
e.g. Airlines, Hotels, Travel Agents and Security.
In addition to his substantial
direct personal sales success, training and coaching experience,
Colin also successfully recruited and led a team of professional
consultants. He is a strong people manager with excellent motivational
skills.
Since 1997 Colin has
worked alongside a number of highly respected organisations in the
field of Sales & Sales Management consultancy helping them to
develop products as well as delivering training whilst helping clients
in the implementation of 'best practice' in their sales organisations.
