Isabelle Blackie
Isabelle's Q&As

Isabelle's UK career began in PR with SAS Public Relations where she handled communications activities for Westminster City Council and tourism and leisure activities for Dover City Council. This resulted in a 13% increase in visits for the City's tourist attractions.

She took her first sales position in 1989 when she joined Primesight to service and develop their major account. She was headhunted 18 months later to work with the prestigious Leo Burnett Advertising Agency handling the McDonald's account across Europe. The first cornerstone came when she was headhunted again to help set up and run the sales and marketing function of Amway Europe. She quickly made her mark by reducing regional marketing overheads by 2000% and improving communication channels to market. Over the 2 years that Isabelle ran Amway Europe Marketing, sales jumped by 40%. Isabelle and her team were well respected. Her coaching style and training enabled in-country teams to be more efficient and exceed their sales targets.

In 1996, she joined The Body Shop as Market Liaison for France, Italy and Spain. Within 6 months, she was promoted to head that team, covering all 47 trading countries. The second career cornerstone came in 1998 when Isabelle decided to break through into the telecoms industry. She negotiated an interim assignment with CarphoneWarehouse before joining PocketPhoneShop, the No2 independent mobile phone retailer. There she shone, taking the business to new heights: the number of UK stores doubled & sales soared. The brand was established as a serious player in the industry and the company was sold in 2000 for a mighty £80m. It was 5 years old.

After the birth of daughter Madeleine in 2000, Isabelle joined One.Tel as International Marketing Director. There, she was instrumental in significantly increasing revenue both through new customer acquisition and customer retention in every country. The third cornerstone came a couple of years later when Isabelle decided to leave the corporate world to set up her own company and work on 'passion' projects. She has never looked back. Isabelle covers training and coaching in International marketing, training, coaching, team building, personal development, and other general business matters. Her client list includes big corporates as well as SMEs in a variety of industries including leisure, telecoms and oil.
